project server install - error message on configuration

B

Beth In Alaska

I'm running SBS 2003 premium and had a prior installation of sharepoint 2.0
I installed from the guide, using a single server setup (after failing
miserably three times at a multiple server install) and upgraded to project
server 2a.
I installed underneath my SBS "companyweb", which may be part of the issue
When attempting to hit the project server configuration site
http://companyweb/ProjectServer/Admin/Admin.asp
I get the error:
"The following file(s) have been blocked by the administrator:
/ProjectServer/Admin/Admin.asp"

One might think this would be a simple permissions issue but I see nothing
in google groups or MS support regarding this.

Please help before I pull my hair out.
thanks in advance,
Beth, irritated in Alaska.

Since you are running Share Point you should add the Project Server virtual
directory to the excluded paths in SharePoint central administration.
You can do this from SharePoint Central Administration.Since I dont have the
software I dont remember exactly where but some where in Virtual Manage
Server Settings

Hope this helps

Yeah you will need to specificaly allow asp in that path, by telling
sharepoint to NOT manage it...

Fire up IIS manager expand websites right click on sharepoint central admin
site and go to browse.
This will fire up the web page in the right hand side so you dont have to
look up the admin port number.. (yes its lazy but it always works...)
go under virtual server configuration --> click on configure virtual server
settings
Virtual server list. Choose the one you made for your project sites
(usually default, not sure on sbs what they name their default virtual
server)
go to virtual server management and click on define managed paths
in this window should be a heading Excluded Paths: and SHOULD list your
projectserver directory path.
If it does then its something else :)
If not then add the path in the next box :Add a New Path and make it an
EXCLUDED path.

Sharepoint doesnt like plain asp pages. Wants to use ASPX. So we have to
tell sharepoint to exlude management of the project server dir as project
serv 2k3 they are asp pages.
Don't know about 2007 yet as I'm not into beta products :)

Hope this helps.

You can email me directly if'n you want some more help as I'm usually up
late (gmt -5 for me) @ rmorgan at breakellepm dot com. I am also use msn
messanger as the same user.

Best of luck
