Project server pushing tasks automatically if not completed by status date

We are having an issue with our Project Server implementation where the tool does not automatically push out task finish dates based on the status date. For example, a task is scheduled to run from 3/30 - 4/1 and work = 24 hours. The resource records actuals of 8 hours on 3/30 and 8 hours on 3/31 via the Web Access tool and the actuals are processed against the plan on 4/1. No hours were recorded on 4/1....therefore the Remaining Hours = 8. When the plan is opened this morning, the finish date for that task still shows 4/1 - even though today is 4/5 and there is no way that 4/1 could be correct. It seems that the tool is just assuming that you failed to record your hours and is waiting for the rest of the actuals to be submitted to correctly forecast the finish date

We want the tool to be more proactive in pushing out the dates. In the extreme, if you don't start a task on time and record no hours it will just sit out there and the dates will not push forward automatically as time passes by. Anyone know of an option in Project/Project Server that can be selected to force it to recalculate these finish dates based on the current date every day or everytime you open the plan?

Hello Ken,



This feature isn't (hopefully) automatic : you just have to do the following
in MS Project Pro :

Tools / Tracking / Update project... / Reschedule uncompleted work to start
after ... the Status date.

That's exactly what I was looking for....thanks for the help! I don't know if I am the only one....but I have not found the out-of-the-box help to be too useful for some of the more detailed questions. Thanks again.
