Project Task Notes - transferring between client and PWA

Hi All,

Here's what I'm trying to do:
I have a plan for maintenance project that has tasks with no end-date;
resources will be asked to execute those tasks on an ad hoc basis.
The amount of time it takes to complete each task is fixed.
Using an example, I have Task A that I will bill 36 hours to my client for
over the course of the year. I enter 36 hours as the work estimate, and each
month the resources can therefore log 3 hours against that task. I would
like to know how I can attach a note to the task that reminds whichever
resource is executing the task that they can only log 3 hours.

Here's my problem:
If I attach a note to a task using the MS Project Pro client, that note does
not appear in the PWA interface. Likewise, if I insert a note through PWA it
does not appear when I open the plan in the Project Pro client.

Thoughs and suggestions are appreciated,

Richard

Try the following:

1. Go to Project Pro
2. Select Collaborate
3. Publish
4. Republish Assignments
5. On the dialog box select the second option
box "Overwrite Actuals"

What could be happening is that the MSP_Views table is out
of sync from the MSP_Web and MSP_Project tables.

The "Overwrite Actuals" forcus a sync to the MSP_Views
table.

Hope this helps

Richard:

Here's the rub: Notes tagged to a task in the Project Client are attributes
at the task level inside project. The notes you enter in the PWA client
through the View My Tasks page or the Updates page are attributes at the
assignment level. They're two different animals.

How about adding a custom text field to carry this information? These you
can add values to in Project and view in PWA after adding them to the
published fields.

Thanks Gary - we're presently trying this out, but it looks promising.

Thanks much.
