In Word 2003 there's an option to prompt the user for the document's
properties when saving it for the first time. I can't seem to find this
option in Word 2007. Has it been removed, or am I just looking in the wrong
place?

Hi Michael,

The user interface choice for it is gone. You can use a macro to have it show again if you're not using a customized Document
Information panel from Infopath, or working with documents in Office Sharepoint libraries.

You may want to use the link below to post this to the Word discussion group for a copy of the macro.

It's regrettable that Microsoft chose to remove that choice. It's yet
another customization option that has been tossed aside with this version of
Office. In previous versions I could customize the toolbar, placing all the
functions I use right in front of me, without the need to switch tabs, and I
could make custom toolbar buttons. This is gone, and it's frustrating to
me. Instead of using a macro, I've decided just to place a button for
"Advanced Document Properties" on the Quick Launch Toolbar.
