Protect a Visio document

How do I protect a Visio file before distributing it?

I have tried "save as" and tried different formats like ACAD drawing - but
the drawing quality degrades. So now I just want to distribute it as the
Visio file - but I dont want people to mess with the content.

Any suggestions?

What about export to PDF? Using Adobe Acrobat Distiller, you can achieve
good quality.

Note that anyone else with a full version of Acrobat can edit the file,
however.

In Visio 2ooo (probably same for 2002):
(from Visio Help)
1.. Choose View > Windows > Drawing Explorer.
2.. Right-click the drawing icon, and then choose Protect Document.
3.. Check the items that you want to protect.
If you want specific people to be able to bypass the protection
settings, type a password. The password is not visible after you close the
dialog box, so be sure to memorize it or write it down.
4.. Click OK.

or one more way is to convert it to pdf file using acrobat. i think it
better to do so because if you create visio on several pages, then that pdf
also make a same thing. plus, it can manage that file to many ways of
protection for an example, view only, can print but poor quality etc.
