Protected Actuals

I have a manager who created a new schedule by copying an older one with
simular tasks and resources. The problem now is that we are trying to delete
un-necessary resources, but can not because Project indicates the resources
can not be deleted because there protected actuals although there is no
actual work. Is there a way to turn this option on or off? We use MS
Project Server 2003. Thanks for your help.

This is one of many reasons why we strongly discourage users from creating
new projects by copying old ones in Project Server 2003. Instead, I would
recommend that your PM create an enterprise project template for this
purpose, and create each new project from the template. If you absolutely
have to disable the Managed Time Periods feature, the Project Server
administrator must do it for you. Hope this helps.

If your process allows for it, I would also recommend having the
administrator modify the Project Server security model so that regular PM's
will not be allowed to save a new project to the server. This will force
them to ask for new projects to be created for them and enforce the policies
your organization has around new schedule creation (i.e. using templates)
