Protected sheet getting decativated

H

Hari

Hi,

I have a spreadsheet in which all the cells are protected. (One can copy
information from the cells)

If I double-click on any cell in that sheet then the customary dialogue
about "The cell or chart you are trying to change is....."

Once I click on Ok the cursor automatically moves to the next spreadsheet.
Why?

I would guess that the cell you are clicking on is linked to the other
worksheet.

i.e. =Sheet2!A1 or similar.

Hi Gord,

On second thoughts..
Why is such a behaviour exhibited only when sheet is protected?

I mean consider the case:-
a) Sheets are linked but the base sheet is not protected. In that case when
you click on the base sheet you dont get transferred to the linked sheet
b)Sheets are Protected but not linked. In this case one doesnt jump to the
other sheet.

Then why does this happen in the combination of linking and protection.
Logic of the same?

If you have Tools>Options>Edit "edit directly in cell" unchecked,
double-clicking on a cell will take you to the source cell on current sheet or
another sheet.

With the protected sheet it mimics this behaviour even when the setting is
checked on.

Reason for.........????

Perhaps someone else could expand. Or expound if that's the case.
