protecting a text box in spreadshhet

This is defeating me I have a text box in an excel sheet, I can protect the
sheet ok but the text box always remains unprotected (ie the user could
change the text)
How do I protect it?

Un-protect the sheet

Right-click on edge of TextBox and Format TextBox>Protection

Protect the sheet.

That didnt work and then I realsed I needed to lock the text as well, sorted
now.
