Protecting Areas of Worksheets

P

Paul

Hi,

I've got a worksheet I want to distribute to my staff so
they can use it. I want to protect the formulae. One of
the formulae is driven from the tab name (change the tab
name and it shows the report for the appropriate cost
centre). When I try and protect the sheet it also protects
the tab name.
Is there any way I can protect the area where the formulae
are, say a1: e100, and leave the rest of the sheet
unprotected and able to change the tab name?

Thanks for looking.

Paul,

First select all the cells in the workbooks (CTRL+A), then go to
the Format menu, choose Cells, and then the Protection tab.
There, uncheck the Locked setting. Next, go to the Edit menu,
choose Goto and then click the Special button. In that dialog,
choose the Formulas option. Click OK. This will select all cells
with formulas. Go back to the Format Cells dialog and set the
Locked option. Finally, protect the worksheet.
