Is there any way in Word to keep the lines from running onto the next or
previous page when new information is added or subtracted? I want to keep my
page breaks as they are in a large document (87 pages - it's a manual that I
am editing with updated info) Thanks.

Based on your description of the doc you might do well to look into
Format>Paragraph - Line & Page Breaks, Page Break Before. Apply it as part
of the style used to format the titles of your "chapters" or whatever
segmentation method you're using.

As Suzanne suggests, manual page breaks can contribute to "doc breaks":)
