Protocol about this group

I posted a question last week, and one of the MVPs asked
me a question about it. I answered, to her email and a
second post to my question. Got no answer, though, so
posted the question again last Thurs and again today. I
notice that every other question is answered but mine. I
wonder if the MVPs ignore re-posts? But I never got an
answer to the first one, though I answered the MVP's
question. I'm a novice user and don't mean to do the
wrong thing. Would someone please tell me if there's a
convention I don't know about?

there isn't anything wrong, other than most people just prefer the follow up
on the group rather than in email (they usually don't get read in my case).

what was your question?

It is possible that nobody knew the answer, but probably more likely that
they didn't get the question.

1) You don't send emails directly to people. You reply to the newsgroup.
2) We don't ignore reposts. We may not answer posts that are poorly written
so we don't understand the question. Or, perhaps, no one had the answer?
3) In any case, repost your question in a new thread, very consicely.

Thanks,

I publish via FP2002 to a server with extensions
installed
and working correctly. I have always had FP remove
deleted pages from the destination server when
publishing, but suddently it has stopped actually doing
that. It asks, I say yes, but the pages are still on
destination server!

I set publishing to "changed pages only"
I set version ID to "Determine Changes by comparing
source and destination"
When asked if FP should remove pages not in current web
from the destination server, I say YES

However, it doesn't remove them. This refers to .htm
and .html pages.

It used to work fine, but now it doesn't. Any help you
can give would be appreciated. Thank you.

I've run into this before and what usually helps is I'll open the web live
(http://example.com/) and get into folders view, delete everything but the
_private and _images folder, close the live web.

then open FrontPage and your local web and publish it.

Open the remote web and recalculate hyperlinks. Close the remote web and open the local and
recalculate hyperlinks and then publish changed pages.

Thank you, but I tried it and it didn't remove any. Do
you have another suggestion? It's not asking me whether
or not to remove the deleted pages, now.

Close FrontPage.
Using windows search for files named *.web and delete all found. Then open FrontPage and go through
the recalculate and publish routine again.

you're better off posting to the group so others besides the MVP's can help you.
and I expect they get a large volume of email a day as well, so answering your
individual message would take time.

Chris Leeds, MVP-FrontPage

there's no way you could have done my suggestion and not deleted them.
you're basically deleting everything then publishing what you have on your
local copy up to the server.

No, that was in response to another suggestion -- the one
below the message.
Actually, I have been deleting everything on the server,
just as you suggested, for a couple of weeks. I was just
seeking a way to go back to the automated deletions.
Thanks for responding.
