Provide audiovisual control system conference facility support.

D

David Spence

Audiovisual and conference facility equipment, products and software are now
ubiquitous in office, education and commercial environments. Education and
training facilities use either similar or related audio and video equipment.

Microsoft Office and Windows Media Player/Center programs are used to
facilitate corporate conferences, yet there is no known Microsoft program
that is used to control/operate audiovisual equipment. Control systems such
as AMX, Media Pointe, Aurora Multimedia-WACI and Crestron are used to
control/operate the audiovisual and videoconferencing equipment in these AV
environs.

It seems that Microsoft has the capability to provide the same
AV/audiovisual control system functionality in its MS Office software through
Windows Media Center. It would be a fine and an appropriate move for
Microsoft Professional Office Suite to include Window Media Center, perhaps
in a “MS Conference Environs†or “MS Conference Environment†program. After
all, Net Meeting provides minimal support for videoconferencing technology.
More importantly, to my knowledge, Window Media Player/Center does not
provide any audio and video equipment control and support to date.

Is Microsoft working on these features, conceivably a Plug-and-Play type of
program? Please feel free to apprise me on any information available and, if
so, I welcome any prospect you may offer testing and facilitating such a
product

Sincerely,

David E. Spence
