PS 2007 Delete and recreate the project workspace

Hi,
We are having project server 2007. I want to delete a project workspace
and recreate again. I went to Server setting --> Project Workspaces ad
selected the work space and deleted. When I try to create it again it is
showing the error "The Web site already exists. Change the name of the Web
site you are trying to create, or select a different site collection and try
again." What is the procedure to delete a project workspace and recreate
again.

Thanks in advance,
Arun

There are different steps to have a new workspace in this stuation:

1. is the site really existing? (click url of the mentioned project to see
if it comes back with a workspace).
If yes, you can try deleting it again in 'server settings'/'project
workspaces' OR on the site itself with 'site actions'/'site settings'/'delete
this site'.

2. if the site does not exist any more, but the url is stil listed in the
workspaces, try to remove the url (by using button 'edit url').
Recreate the site.

If above doesn't help because there is no url shown in workspaces for that
project, you have to delete de project from the 'published' database only.
Republish the project and create the workspace with it. NOTE, check if there
are any task updates pending for the project before deleting from published
database!

hope this helps

Hi Sander,
Thanks for your help. I deleted the project from published database and
the project workspace. And I published the project again. It is working fine.

Thanks,
Arun

Hi Sander,

I am trying to do the same thing as Arum. I was successful in deleted the
workspace but but the url is stil listed in the workspaces. Now I would like
to try your step #2 but don't know where to find the button 'edit url' you
are referinng too.

Also, I am apprehensive about deleting the project from the 'published'
database (which shows as read-only when I am in the open project dialog
window in MS Pro 2007). Last time I tried this I ended up deleting the
project file entirely. If I needed to do this how can ensure that I do not
delete the file, but just the published version.

If you have read only access to the schedule but have access to delete
projects from the database through PWA>Delete Objects, I could see how that
might cause issues.

You should make sure to be the administrator with full rights to all the
schedules and settings. Is that not the case for you?

Hi Jonathan,

I am an admin, but I think it is because the project may have been
checked-out. Could it be... I'll have to look at it again...

In the meantime, do you know if I can delete the file listed in the
workspace in an other way as Sander was refering to?
