PS 2007 Project Check-in trouble

Jonathan H

Hello,

I've got a project stuck checked out, and I need some help. It's an
important one.

1. SP1 is applied
2. I've tried clearing the local cache and the whole open and close with
the Exit menu item - it tells me the Save job failed.
3. I can't force a check-in, the Job State on that screen just says
'Cancelled'
4. In the queue there are multiple entries for Save and Check-In for that
project, but they are all showing as Cancelled apart from the most recent
three which are 'Getting Queued' and 'Waiting to be processed'
5. I have tried stopping and starting the queue but no joy

I could reboot the server, and I'll probably try that in a minute, but what
can I do now?
I have saved the file as an .mpp, but then what do I do about the existing
project. Clearly I can't delete it while it is checked-out.

I really hope someone has an idea, or I'm not sure what options I'm left with.

Kind Regards,

Jonathan

Jonathan,

The first thing you will need to do to resolve your issues is to clean up
those jobs that are stuck in the queue.

For the "Getting queued" jobs, you need to enable the advanced option
"Cancel jobs getting enqueued" and also leave the option "Cancel subsequent
jobs in the correlation" enabled as well and then cancel the jobs that are
"Getting queued".

If the job stuck in queue position 1 is in the "Getting queued" state then
this should clear all the jobs for you.

If the job stuck in queue position 1 is "Waiting to be processed" then I
would try again to stop and start the services after you cancelled the other
jobs. If this does not work, make sure you have to copies of
Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Queuing.exe under Task Manager>Processes.
If you only see one copy running then this points to your queuing services
only partially starting up.

Hope this helps,
Jonathan Sofer

Hi Jonathan,

This is a common problem seen with Project server 2007. Sometimes the queue
resolves itself over time. I was hoping this would have been fixed by SP1.

Are you the owner of the project or the admin? If you are not the owner,
then get the owner of the project / or the person who last checked it out to
clear the cache and try again.

Have you examined the ULS logs for additional information as to why this job
is not processing ?
