PS2003. Print Spooler Service..

Running PS2003. The Print Spooler service is set to manual. Does anyone
know what Project expects? Is there a preferred setting? (like 'Automatic')
It seems to me that with multiple PM's using Project Pro and
saving/publishing, etc. that an 'Automatic' and 'Started' configuration would
be preferred.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks for your comments.

Mark,

Mine is set to automatic and we have never changed ours. Are you
talking about the print spooler in services, that manages print
queues? Or are you talking about the Project Server Spooler? I do
not see a Project Server Spooler service running on the server. Can
you be more specific for me?

I'm talking about the Print spooler on the server. It is set to automatic on
the my client, but 'manual' on the server. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting this,
but I think it is the vehicle Proj Prof uses when a PM publishes, saves, etc.
to the server.

If I'm way off base here, please set me straight.

Thanks,

No you are correct, but I'm not sure where you are seeing this print
spooler on the client and server. Is it a setting you are looking at
in Project Pro? Where are you seeing it on the server?

Mark,

The print spooler has nothing to do with the project publishing process for
PS2003. Unless you're providing print services from the Project server, this
can be set to manual or disabled.

OK, NZ Projects.

The more I thought about it, the more I figured your response was accurate.
My question then is: what is the Icon that appears in the bottom tray when I
launch Project Pro on my desktop? Mousing over it says its the Microsoft
Office Project Server Spooler.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Just trying to understand.
