PS2003 - Reassigning Resources in Administrative Project Plans

A

Al Ponds

Background:
===========
Due to an organizational change many Administrative Project plan resources
were set to a Proposed Booking Type in the old Admin Plan to remove from the
users Task View. In the new Admin Plan they were set to committed. Both Admin
Plan assignment were Republished.

Issue:
======
When Functional Managers access the View Resource Assignments they see both
the old (Proposed Booking Type) and new (Committed Booking Type) Admin Plans.
How do I get the View Resource Assignments to only show the new (Committed
Booking Type) Admin Plans?

I deleted every assignment sent last Friday and republished all Project
Plans manually over the weekend. Proposed Resource Booking Type
Administrative Plans Assignments are still appearing in the View Resource
Assignment summary. Any ideas of what approach to take.

When I login as Administrator, Functional Manager and Project Manager they
all show Committed and Proposed Resource Booking Type Administrative Plan
Assignments.

My apology if this issue was already addressed. I searched and did not get a
result to resolve.

Al,

Do you have seperate admin plans or did you modify the exsisting one?

Scott,

The 40 Administrative Project plans are maintained seperately by 10
Functional Managers. Each have 4 admin plans of their own. Tasks View for
the old (proposed booking type resources) are okay. Any one with access
rights to View Resource Assignments see both the old (proposed booking type
resources) and new (committed booking type resources) Administrative Project
plan assignments.

Do I need to save as an .mpp, delete from project server, load the .mpp file
back to server and have the Functional Managers republished each of their
four admin plans?

Thanks,
Al

By adding the Booking Type field in View Resource Assignment summary
Functional Manangers are able to decide is they want to see All, Proposed or
Committed assignments. Training the Functional Managers and anyone with this
access will be the business proceess until a long-term fix is recommended and
or validated.

This a tactical solution for now that works with minimal effort. But I am
still in need of a more permanent solution
