Hi,

I would like to create a new view that lists all the projects with milestone
tasks only, is it possible to have such a view in PWA?

Don't all projects have milestones?

A data analysis view could display milestones across al your projects

Hi Mike,

The purpose to create this view is to see the view with gantt chart.
Actually I am suppose to show all key tasks and milestones indicated by a
custom field, start and end information.

Hi Godfrid

You can do this in Project Server by creating a master project then
filtering on a project detail view. If you have the skills you can
export selected milestone data into a Project plan (which could be
published in PWA) or I have also seen this data exported to VIsio for
a Programme / Corporate roadmap.

Hi Mike,

I have thought of using master project but decided against it due to the
following reasons:
1) It is quite cumbersome to maintain the master project of 100+ projects.
2) Some of the projects are already in the program master project so it is
not possible to add these projects to another master project.

If there is no other viable solution, I might use SSRS to generate a report
for this purpose.

Thanks & Best Regards

Master projects can be cumbersome but you can "nest" master projects
which makes maintenance a little easier.

Hi Mike,

I don't quite understand when you say "nest" master project. Can you give a
brief explanation on how to do that?

Thanks & Best Regards

Project Server 2007 will let you insert a master project into another
master project, hence you can have a hierarchy of master projects. In
PWA you can open a detail view of the highest level master and expand
down thru each level. You can then run a filter to see specific data,
across all projects in any part of the hierarchy. I have never had a
need to go beyond 3 levels but performance is fine for 30 projects
totalling 4000 tasks.
