How can I get a custom text field (project level) to inherit data from
another custom text field (task level)???

all you need to do is create a formula that refers to the fist customfield.

Hi Marc! Thanks for replying. I tried just inserting the task field name in
the project field's formula area, but I can't get the data to show up. I can
get it to work on numeric fields. So is there something I'm missing since
this is a text field???

How is project ever going to know which task to roll up from?
With numbers you can roll up min, max, sum ... but with text what sort of
rule would you use? The first one alphabetically? Merge them altogether?
Take the first letter of each? Take the average? None of these approaches
would be very useful.

Because of this, there is no function to roll up task text fields to the
project level.
