PS2010 - Extending the report database to store snapshot informati

P

Piet Remen

I heard a rumour that the next version of the Project Server 2010 SDK will
include an example of how to extend the reporting database so that it can
store historic snapshot information. Can anyone confirm this rumour?

I know baseline fields can be used but we often see the need for clients to
report against project server data over a defined period (monthly for
example). Ideally they would like to report on the snapshot information and
track the changes or trend over a range of snapshot periods.

Piet:

Even using Project Server 2007, you can extend the reporting database. A
version of the Project Server 2010 SDK is available from MSDN. I believe the
next release is scheduled for May sometime, but I can't say for certain.

Thanks for your response Gary.

Yes understand the reporting server can be extended and conceptually know
how we can achieve this. Just I heard a rumour that someone was including an
example of this particular functionality in the 2010 SDK and did not want to
re-invent the wheel. The current version of the 2010 SDK does not include
this so will just have to wait until May and try again.
