pst archive folder not accesible by user

Dear
I'm working at a helpdesk and a user complained that he had difficulties to
acces is rather large pst folder of 1.7 gig.
So as administrator I took ownership of his computer and copied both this
file to my local harddrive.
there I could split the folder in 2 and I copied these 2 pst files back with
my administrator account to the laptop of the owner.
strange thing here is that the folder that I created turned green just as
both pst files that I copied there.
even when the user has full ownership of the folders and pst files I still
get an errormessage that either the file is removed or that he does not have
the right permissions to acces this folder
how can we solve this problem for this user?
thanks for your much appreciated help and suggestions

What was the difficultly? What was the exact text of the error message?

Split what "folder" in two? How?

To which folder of the laptop? Were there any PSTs in that folder already
of the same name as either of the two you copied? What exactly was (or
were) the object(s) you copied?

Did yoiu have him take ownership of the files?
