Can anyone tell me (please) how to import to Outlook 2002
my pst export file created with Ouitlook 2003. Have I been
bushwacked by built-in obsolescence?

Create a new PST file (non-unicode format) in OL2003, and then copy or move
the items into it. Then you should be able to open that new PST file in an
older version of Outlook.

Yes.
In Outlook 2003, you must first create a PST file in the "old" (Outlook
97-2002) format and copy your data into that.
