Hard to say without any information what you've done and on which version of
Windows.

Hi
Sorry I am not at all with it!!
I am using Office premium 2000 with outlook.
I have loads of pst files and was trying to use scanpst to repair the inbox.
Along the way I found myself with a box that said open file with what.
Browse to select program
I did and then whilst the cursor was on adobe I clicked.
I then changed this to Outlook icon.
Needless to say i am in a mess and now just want the icon back to the
original one that was associated with nothing other than the pst file!!
Does that make sense??

It doesn't really matter that the association has gone wrong as pst-files
aren't directly executable (opening by double-clicking it) anyway.
You still didn't mention your Windows version but assuming you're using
Windows XP you can go to Control Panel-> Folder Options-> tab File Types->
double click on "pst" and choose Restore. This will associate it back to the
original application (Outlook).

Thank you!!!
BUT THERE IS ALWAYS A BUT!!
I firstly changed the icon to adobe then to Outlook!
When i did restore it went back to adobe.
As long as it does not matter i am content to leave it but how could I get
it back to how it was (The icon that associates with nothing!).
On another matter every time I go and try to use the inbox repair tool I am
told that the file I am looking at does not exist!!
IE I copy and paste the location of the pst file into the scanpst tool and
it says nope not there!!
Sorry to be a pain!

Press on the Advanced... button and remove any entry there.
Then press Change Icon... and point it to;
C:\Windows\system32\SHELL32.dll
Select the icon in the left top corner to set it to the "nothing" icon.

And as for the scanpst.exe question;
Verify that you also type the name of the pst-file behind the copied path
ending with .pst
Otherwise use the Browse... button to select the pst-file.
