PST files

Trying to install a PST file named 'backup.pst' from a cd
which was burnt/taken/copied from my works server before I
retired. I Go to file import and follow the wizard and
cannot get further than a message which says 'Properties
for this information service must be defined'

Stumped me as I cannot find how to do this. The original
level sytem was Version 200 sp3 and I have winows 98
running office 2000.

These files contain a lot of my info so do not want to
lose them. Any help gratefully received.

Outlook needs read/write access so, copy the file to your HDD and remove the
Read-Only attribute. Don't bother to import, just go to File-Open-Outlook
Data file.

Copy the pst file to your PC. Right click on the file and
uncheck the "Read-Only" attribute. Try the import again.
Also, it is not necessary to do an import. You can open
the pst file directly from within outlook. Click on File,
Open, data file.
