pst scan utility error

After trimming a pst file that was over the 2gb size limit
and running the pst scan utility, I recieve the following
error. "an error has occured which has caused the scan to
be stopped.no changes have been made to the scanned file."

I have tried trimming the file size down 5 times and get
the same error each time. I have copied the pst file to my
local drive before making any changes and still get the
same error.

Any ideas?
