Pub vs Word

Lyn

Our group sends an 8 page newsletter consisting of
articles and photos. We do it in Publisher 2000. We have
been advised by a computer expert that we should do it in
Word -
1) so that it can be emailed to those of our members with
internet access and,
2) that we would have more room for articles, without
boxes taking up space.
I thought Publisher was expressly for such publications
and had advantages over Word for layout etc. Should we
change to Word? Can the newsletter be converted to Word
when finished for those members with email and Word?

Publisher files can be emailed to those with Internet access, but not many
people have the software to read it.
I would suggest creating a PDF.

If you will excuse my language, that sounds like utter bullsh*t to me.
Methinks your "expert" isn't that much of an expert.

It is.

Not easily.
I would suggest creating a PDF.
If you need advice on how to create a PDF of a file, please post back.

Hope you are not paying this so called expert - drip under pressure any
money.

The Text Frames do not take up space if they are laid out correctly.

Thankyou very much for your reply.

But, how do I find out how to lay them out correctly?

There are a number of programs that can create PDF files
Try:
Adobe Acrobat - www.adobe.com
PDF-Xchange - www.docu-track.com
PDF995 - www.pdf995.com

If you're more technically-inclined, the free GhostScript and GhostView
software can generate PDFs, but they require a little more TLC and technical
knowledge.

Adobe also has a free trial service where you can create 5 PDFs absolutely
free.

You need to find somebody locally who knows how to drive Publisher to show
you.

You need to realise, that to do the same type of work in Word would firstly
drive you completely crazy, and secondly would need text frames just like
Publisher uses. Your so called expert knows little to nothing.

If you want to drop over one night after work I am more than happy to show
you how to drive Publisher. I only live just across the pond from you.
