Emailing Newsletter

T

Thomas H Clegg

I'm using Publisher 2007 on a Vista system to create a monthly newsletter
which I email to members.

The newsletter looks fine in Publisher, and fine in the email preview, but
when it gets to the members, there are very large spaces between the
articles. These spaces are "normal" size in Publisher but 1/4 to 3/4 of a
screen when I email the newsletter.

I publish the newsletters to a web site and the spacing is "normal" there.

The template is form publisher's email forms, and set up as at custom form
length, so that there are no page breaks.

I'm lost as to what setting is wrong and creating these abnormally larges
spaces, so any help would be greatly apprecated.

While I don't want to clutter up this post, I'd be glad to forword the
newsletter in pub format if someone wants to see it themselves.

Thanks,
Tom

I think that what Don was suggesting was that you should consider sending as
an attached PDF if you want to make sure that the formatting stays the same.
That is one of the advantages of Pub 2007 with the PDF add-in.

Otherwise, you will need to study your email design to see what you are
doing that changes the spacing.

Pay particular attention to the formatting tips in the second link.

No, I just use the "Send as Mailing" option from the tool bar.

As Don was alluding to...why not try saving
a copy as a .pdf and see if you like it.

File / Save As / PDF

If you do not have the save as .pdf option
you can download the following add-in:

2007 Microsoft Office Add-in:
Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS

And maybe the followng articles will
offer some ideas:

Enable support for other file
formats, such as PDF and XPS

Microsoft Office 2007
Save a file in PDF format

Thank you, I've got one going out next week so I'll try it.

The only thing that concerns me is that about 300 of the récipients are
retirees and I wonder how many will be baffled by the pdf attachment even
after I explane how to use it.

I'm still wondering why a space of 2-3 lines changes to 4-5 inches just
sending it out as email.
