Public Folder displaying unread number incorrectly

Not sure how to describe this. I have a user that has read all messages
under a public folder that contains a subdirectory and a calendar yet the
public folder illustrates a (2) next to it's name. Everything has been read
including everything within the subfolder and calendar.

Now the (2) denotes that 2 messages are unread by her, but it only displays
this next to the folder name within the public folder's shortcut added to the
Outlook bar. The '(2)' is NOT listed when viewing the list of public folders
on the folder list.

I've removed and readded the shortcut which works until Outlook refreshes,
then the (2) reappears. I've also marked say 10 posting as being unread. The
number increases to (12). Then I mark them all as unread and it drops back to
(2). Any ideas?

Have you tried searching for unread messages to see if any show up? Use the
advanced find, more choices and look for only items that are unread. If
that does not return any items, then try marking all items as read.
