public folders

like many businesses we have a public folders in outlook shared across the
network which contain our office calendar and office contacts. In outlook
2003 there is no facility to make these open as your default calendar and
contacts folder when you open outlook, nor to make the public calendar appear
in 'Outlook Today' instead of the general calendar.

Also you can't customise the way contacts details from a public contacts
folder appear in 'To' 'cc' or 'bcc' so that the order is 'company, last name,
first name'.

Yes, you are correct. It isn't meant to be your default - why would you need
it to be? There are plenty of ways to view them....

It all depends on how the contacts were set up ('file as' field). Presuming
that's how they were created, to make your Outlook Address Book match, go to
the properties of your Outlook Address Book (tools | e-mail accounts |
view/change directories, next....highlight OAB, change, set "file as"
instead of "firstname lastname".
