publiher 2007

PLease forgive my ignorance, but I have attempted to publish my web pages
directly from Publisher 2007, but when I attempt to "Publish to the web" and
enter the domain address, it states that the 'name is too long or contains
illegal characters.' I am clearly doing something wrong - help would be
appreciiated.

Thanks

You didn't say whether you are using IE6 or IE7, or XP or Vista, so here are
some references:

How to trouble-shoot Publisher web upload issues :
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/pages/80560.aspx

These would be applicable if you are using XP and IE6:

Reference: How to publish a Publisher web in HTTP:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/pages/80557.aspx

How to publish a Publisher web publication (FTP) :
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/pages/80556.aspx

If you are using a form in your Publisher web:
Reference: Publisher web publication forms 101:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/archive/2006/01/07/80564.aspx
As the article suggests, you will have to use HTTP uploading if you use a
form.

Prepare, publish, and maintain your Publisher Web site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA100947601033.aspx
It is written for Pub 2007, but if you are using IE7 instead of IE6, then
the directions for using Vista would apply. FTP and HTTP uploading has
changed with the introduction of IE7.

And finally, if you are not using a form in your web, then I would suggest
you use FTP uploading protocol. Download and install the free FTP client
FileZilla:
http://filezilla-project.org/ It is likely to be easier for you. Change the
default ASCII File Type to Auto File Type.
