I need to publish Project plans to a few stakeholders only when I decide
that the information is OK to be published.
I kept unchecked the "automatic publish on save" (in the Collaboration
Option) to be sure that saving will not publish information in the Project
Center.
Meanwhile, each time I save, the Project Plan is visible in the
ProjectCenter for those who have the view permission, and ...updated eachtime
the project change, even if the project is not validated.

Is it possible to restrict the data to validated project ? i.e for instance
which are published thru the collab/publish Project Plan ?

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is closing
down.

To answer your question, one of the nasty little undocumented features of
Project Server 2003 is that it publishes the saved project plan at the time
you close the project. I believe Microsoft configured the software this way
to make sure that the Project tables and Web tables are always "synched up"
in the SQL Server database. When you close the project, it is the same as
if you clicked Collaborate - Publish - Project Plan. To solve your problem,
refer to the following FAQ for how to configure Project Server to "hide"
projects:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/ArchiveCompletedProjects.htm

Please note that although the FAQ gives directions for hiding completed
projects, you can use similar steps to hide projects that are planned but
not yet approved. Hope this helps.

Thank you Dale

This confirm what I thought. I agree with your solution.
Considering your answer I would replace in the
Set the Production Status for Each Project chapter of the web page
5. Click Collaborate - Publish - Project Plan
5 Save and close the project instead !!
Right ?

I'm not sure what web page you are talking about. Regardless, you need to
let people know that saving and closing a project is the same as clicking
Collaborate - Publish - Project Plan. We're changing the Publishing section
of our Project Server 20003 book for project managers to reflect this
information, in fact. Hope this helps.
