Publish site to FP on new computer

I am trying to follow the instructions I have seen in the "computer stolen"
post but I didn't respond there because I may be getting different results
from that guy and I don't want to confuse him. So please excuse the
duplication. When I click "open web" in FP 2002 as you suggest, Peter, and
type in my web address, it just opens another copy of FP, still blank.

My old machine was Win98SE. The new one is XP.

I also tried going thru Windows Explorer per Jim but all I am getting is the
photos, not the whole site. I was expecting to see the .htm pages. Any
insights?

Is the site publish to a remote server that has the FP extensions, if so, open the site directly in
FP on the remote server via File Menu | Open Web, enter http://www.yourdomain.com then enter login
info, click ok, then Open, once open use File Menu | Publish Web and enter c:\websitename

ooops... I could swear I had already clicked on "import" and not gotten
anything. But now it looks like that will work. While it was importing, I
kept getting messages that gallery photos were not transferring, but when I
open the page, it looks like they did. So I guess "import" is the thing to
do, in FP 2002. I'll check back here if anyone has insights on issues I might
run into with this. I have spent a lo-o-o-ng night setting up the new
computer and installing software & now I'm about useless!

NEVER Import a complete web site. Importing does not download all files and
folders - only those that can be reached by non-JavaScript links from the
home page. In particular, included pages, shared borders pages, navigation
data and databases will be left behind.

If the source web has FrontPage extensions, open that web in FrontPage, then
File->Publish to a folder on your PC.

If the source web does not have FrontPage extensions, use an FTP client to
download the web to a folder, then open the folder in FrontPage and allow it
to be converted to a web.
You will have to rebuild the navigation, shared borders and included
content.
