Publish using FTP

I see the option of publishing, using FTP. Is this what is referred to when
the server does not have FP extensions and Share Points loaded?
Is this the FTP that is used for me to log onto the site and make changes
remotely too?

Correct. However with no extensions or share point on the remote server,
then you can not open the site on the remote server to edit or make any
changes.

If server does not have FP Extensions or Share Points, the FP FTP is used to
send files to that server. Then the FP FTP can be used to bring everything
back to me, modify and send the whole thing back to the server???

I have IIS and Extension running on my W2K Pro computer.

Not really.

FP will use FTP to upload content to a server that doesn't have the
extensions.

FP can not be use to download content from a server that doesn't have the
extensions.

However, FP offers the import function, but that will only grab the content
that would normally be seen in a browser and is linked to the home page of
the site, so source files containing the site navigation structure, themes,
shared borders, FP Includes are not included when you do an import.

If you want to use FTP to download from the server, then you could use
CuteFTP. It's also good for uploading.

You can download it from the web at a reasonable price.
