publish won't work with disk

I edited my web with some updates, uploaded it to my
server, checked it online and all was fine. I then
attempted to publish my web to my hard drive for a backup
and also to my other computer and get this message;

An error occured accessing your FrontPage web files.
Authors - if authoring against a web server, please
contact the webmaster for the server's site. Webmasters -
please see the server's system log for more details.

I have removed the updated file to no avail. What has
happened to my Frontpage 2000? Is publishing to a hard
drive directory not a good way to backup?

First do some cleanup
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office

Then Open your online web and use File Publish (All)
then browse to an existing top level folder on your hard disc
- say C:\wwwMyWeb
