Published web: cannot view third level of site

I have published an internal intranet. all users but one can view it
correctly.
This user is only able to navigate to the home page and the next level after
that. then they get a page cannot be displayed and the address reverst to
computer:\\

i have cleared the cached and the cookies in the internet options?
does anyone know how this would happen
hope it makes sense!

Theory:

You might have some links that point to network shares instead of http://
pages/files, and all the users bar one have access to that network share.
