Publisher 2000 installation cannot find qualifying product

news(RemoveThis)

I have been using Office 2000 Premium (upgrade from Office 97) for
several years without having originally installed Publisher 2000 from
Disk 2. Yesterday I tried to install Publisher 2000 and received an
error message that I do not have a qualifying product. I had no problem
installing PhotoDraw from disk 3.

According to MS Office 2000 is no longer supported even though I never
used the Publisher component.

Thanks in advance.

Do you still have Office 97? Put it in your disk drive and point Publisher to it.

Maybe you can install Office 97 first... then Publisher.
Thanks for your response but I also tried that. Maybe the last resort is
to remove Office 2000 and start over but that is frustrating and I may
lose some update info.

From the MS support page it looks like I am not the only one with the
problem. Their recommended solution is to call for a free valid key but
now Office 2000 is out of support.

Thanks for your responses.

I finally was able to resolve the problem by:
removing office 2000
reinstall office 97
reinstall office 97 sr-1 (twice)
download and install sr-2b (the "b" is critical)
reinstall office 2000

What a pain!
