Publisher 2000 word art

Publisher 2000 word art: I am trying to overlay a word art frame over a
design so that the design shows in back of the word art. I right click in the
word art frame then > Change Frame > Fill Color> No Fill. The fill color of
the word art frame remains solid white - it won't clear. Is it possible to
have no fill color in a word art frame?

Mary,
I assume that you mean the fill pattern etc. in a word art frame CAN NOT be
changed in any way, no?

Did you read the suggested article. The fix is turning off high-contrast in the
Accessibility options in the control panel.
Otherwise, if this is not your issue, I can only suggest to do a detect and repair.

Mary,
Thanks again for the comeback. I'm sorry but I didn't realize that the last
line of your note referred to a spearate article. I'm new to forums. I have
read the article and found that the High Contrast option is off in
accessability options. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I am in fact and
always have been able to change the color and pattern of the word art letters
and the color and thickness of the letter borders. What I can't do is change
the background of the frame surrounding the letters to ""no fill" so that
the letters remain and the space around the letters is clear allowing
whatever background - a picture object for example - to show through. Am I
still in detect and repair territory or am I asking too much of word art?

Mary,
I really appreciate your help. Yes, I can now overlay a word art object on
a picture frame and clear the background of the word art so the picture
surrounds the letters of the word art. For some reason I couldn't get it to
work previously. I'll ask you to try one more thing and then I will leave you
alone . Try the same thing with word art and a text object frame - i.e.
overlay a word art frame over a text frame, select "No Fill" for the word art
object and see if the background of the word art object clears so that you
can see the text in the text frame surrounding the letters of the word art.

Hello ibexx,
What you are seeing is the wrap. If your text box is exactly the same size as the
WordArt you won't see this.
If the look you are trying to achieve is to have the WordArt not wrap, position the
WordArt where you want it, select the crop tool and pull out the WordArt margins to
fit the text frame.

Mary,
You were right, it was a wrap problem. My remedy: I selected the text
object then: rt. click > Change Frame > Text Frame Properties > Options >
Deselect wrap text around objects. The text no longer warps around the word
art frame. The text of the text object now appears around the letters of the
word art object which is exactly what I was trying to do. I use that Text
Frame Properties window often for sizing but never noticed the wrap options
at the bottom. Do you do this professionally for Microsoft or are you just an
Office user who likes problem solving? Anyway, again, thank you very much for
your help.

I am a volunteer.
Thanks for the feedback. It has been a long time since I used Publisher 2000, the
wrap changed somewhat in XP and 2003. You way was much easier than I suggested.
Thanks again.
