Publisher 2003 catalog merge

I am attempting to us Publisher 2003 catalog merge to create a address/phone
directory booklet. The format works well except some entries have spouse
and children names and some do not. I cannot find the proper syntax for
conditional statements. If an entry does not have children, it leaves a
blank line in my final document.

If I use the mail merge instead of the catalog merge I can match my data
fields to the address block fields. Then the final doucment automatically
understand the (if blank) condition and does not leave extra spaces or lines.

I would like to know the proper syntax for (if blank) conditon to use in
catalog merge box

You can insert more than one field in the catalog merge. Might think about using
a new text box in the catalogue field for the children's names.
Publisher doesn't have conditional statements in the same way Word does.
