Publisher 2003 Compatibility with 3rd Party Browsers

I have created my website with Publisher 2003. It works great with IE 7.
However, it cannot be shown correctly with 3rd party browsers such as
FireFox, Opera, etc. Are there any things that I can do to increase the
compatibility? Here is the URL http://www.hktrekking.org

Gary,

I am not sure that I see that much difference between viewing the site with
IE6 and FF. The one thing I see different is some sort of google ad box
below the first line of text (the date) and the horizontal bar, in the
middle section. This appears in FF, but does not appear in IE.

Perhaps you could give us some specifics about what is not shown correctly
in FF?

David,

I am currently updating my website so that you may see something strange.
Sorry about that.

In fact, I have unchecked the options "Rely on VML for faster graphics
downloading" and "Allow PNG as a graphics format……" under the
Tools/Options/Web. My website looks OK without these options. I am now trying
to publish my website to verify the result.

Gary,

You might also experiment with and change the Encoding from or to Unicode
(UTF-8) from or to Western European (ISO).

I have recently discovered that it is only the Index Page that Firefox won't
display correctly, while all the inside pages seem pretty good. So I have
created a Duplicate Index page as page 2 in my Publisher file, and put a link
on the Index page saying "This site is best viewed in Internet Explorer.
Firefox users click here." which takes them to the duplicate page inside the
file and all is well.

This seems to take care of a problem I have been trying to find a solution
for for months!

After I have unchecked the options "Reply on VML for ....." and "Allow
PNG...." to make my website can be displayed on Firefox & Opera, some of the
hyperlink of the photos cannot be linked ONLY IF I use IE7.

Expample - http://www.hktrekking.org/index_files/Page505.htm

All photos in the webpage have hyperlinks. However, the first one cannot be
clicked when I use IE7. But they work fine with Opera & Foxfire.

Please help.

Interesting. If it were me, I would select the image where the hyperlink
doesn't work, right click, hyperlink and remove the hyperlink. Then go to
Arrange > Order > and either or both Bring to Front and Bring Forward. Then
select the image again, and insert the hyperlink again.

I would also say that your photos are terrific...but perhaps a bit large and
slow loading. I would suggest that you either resize and optimize the images
before you insert them, or at least use the compress images feature in Pub
2003. Here is a reference: Compress graphics file sizes to create smaller
Publisher Web pages:

Plus this one...read about half way down the page:
