SUMMARY
This article describes the Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 issue that is
fixed in the Publisher 2003 hotfix package that is dated April 1, 2004.

Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package
The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package, but was not previously
documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
a.. This problem may occur if the New Publication task pane is open and
you do not quit Publisher 2003 before you log off or shut down Microsoft
Windows. If you log off or shut down Windows while Publisher 2003 is
running, you receive the following error message:
The instruction at "0x31e48ae9" referenced memory at "0x009e06e8". The
memory could not be "read".

Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended
to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to
systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive
