publisher 2003 keeps freezing

publisher 2003 keeps locking up when i try to convert anything, that is,
ANYTHING AT ALL into columns, more specifically 2 columns. i have a decent
system, ive tried defragging all my partitions with the page file turned off,
ive scanned time and time again for spyware and found nothing, and ive fixed
all registry problems. this is getting really annoying, as i need this
specific project for school. I havent upgraded from an older version, this
is my first time running publisher of any version at all. Im running under
WinXP sp1, with all the critical updates and service packs, and office 2003
has all the service packs as well. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME !? a question
im sure many microsoft customers often ask.

No because most MS customers aren't stupid enough to install garbageware
(i.e. any Norton application). You run NAV (or anything else for that
matter) you have to expect problems!

Sarah, I have Norton and have used it for years and years. I've not had one minute of
problems with the application. The disabling of the "script blocking" is not hard to
do.
When you consider how many folks use this anti-virus software and how few inquiries
are on this forum, it turns out it isn't all that troublesome. A one time fix is all
it takes to perform correctly in conjunction with Publisher.

I think the ratio of people who look to this group for assistance to the
number of users with problems is far too small.

Most users will:
a) Blame Microsoft and mouth off about crap Microsoft software to anyone
they can, without trying to investigate possible solutions to the problem or
the root cause of the problem.
b) Find some website/forum that fulfills a similar function to this
c) Find some technically-knowledgable friend to look into the problem, who
will normally find an answer in the KB or Google Groups
or d) Pay someone to sort the problem
