I had no issue at all. I just clicked on the link and it behaved perfectly.
It always wants to install the Outlook patch as well even though I don't
have Outlook installed and never have.

Not always - it will do its level best to install without the CDs (it is
much better about this than previous updates for older versions have been).

No, there is a 70mb update which is less likely to require the CDs. There
are still situations where it will ask for CDs, unfortunately.

I see they have pulled the "guarantee" from the download section. Yesterday
it said guaranteed no CD required. Sloan, the beta lead, has changed that as
of this morning :)

Never asked for the CD's at all.

Just installed quickly and was without any issues whatsoever.

I just used the Office Update link you posted and it needed no CD's.
Was all very seamless.
