Publisher 2007 Postcard Mail Merge Problems, Help!

I need to print two postcards to a page and mail merge a list from excel
spreadsheet. Same name appears and prints on both postcards.
Same happens when I try four to a page. Merges and prints same name on all
four. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Help!

When you are laying out your publication, do you see a single card or
four on your page?

Have you checked the Print Setup to print "Multiple pages per sheet"
rather than "Multiple copies per sheet"?

Are you actually printing or just print previewing?

Hi Ed, Yes I have used multiple pages per sheet. The only way I have gotten
it to work is by putting page 1 and page 2 in seperate files which means that
I will have to run my print job twice in order for the postcard to be copied
on both sides. I want to solve the merge problem so I can have page 1 & 2 on
same saved file and then be able to run an auto duplex on my printer. I have
done the print preview and an actual print job.

Hi Lisa,

I think I have a resolution to your problem. I have the same praoblem. I had
posted a "Resouluyion to printing mail merge 4 up" but apparently it was
removed. Don't know why, it was there then it was gone.

This is what works for me (Publisher 2003):
Create your layout as a single view (ie postcard, 1/4 page)
Create your mail merge Tools>mail merge (abbr.),
step 2: select source
step 3: select elements to be placed, adjust position if needed
step 4: preview publication

Your preview will show only the single view with the first record.

now, here is where things change

You will see a selection at the botton for
Next: complete the merge (step 5)

Don't do this step.

Instead, go to File>Print Merge
Select your printer\
make sure you have selected print multiple copies per sheet (found under
change copies per sheet at the bottom of dialog box)

Select either all entries or Entries from: (I selected entries 1 to 4 to
test this)

You will only see one image on the screen.

Hope this works for you. I have shut dow, reopened and recreated four times
and this works each time.

Deb, I will try your suggestion. I am using the Publisher 2007 beta software.
Do you think that will make a difference since you use Publisher 2003?
