Ah well. I came to this group to try to find a solution to my
problem.
We cannot solve a problem which is not possible to get into.
By way of background I told how I got to where I am. So far
I've been called a liar
No, we suggested that you may not be in full possession of the facts. That
is completely different from calling you a liar.
e.g. If someone installed Outlook 2002 on your PC without you present, and
neglected to inform you, then you would not be in full possession of the
facts. You would not be lying, as you are telling the truth as best you
know it.
I am not trying to accuse you of being a liar. I am trying to work out what
the hell is going on in your computer, so I can try and solve your problem.
and insulted for being English!
You were insulted for being British. I get it all the time from one
particular resident. You learn to live with it after a while.
Word is version 2000
Excel is version 2000
Power point is version 2000 SP3
Access is version 2000
Publisher is version 2000 SP3
Outlook is version 2002 SP1
OK, all your Office applications should be the same SP version.
Where did you get this list? From System Information, or did you make a
list from the Help > About screens?
Can you take a screenshot of Outlook and e-mail it directly to me?
(If you don't know how: Open Outlook, press the Print Screen key on your
keyboard, open Paint, select Edit > Paste, then File > Save As..., Save As
Type: PNG (Portable Network Graphics), and type a filename. Email the file
created to me. Do not put this file into a Word document.
Has anyone ever used your computer who isn't you?
Now how about my problem - can anyone help?
At some point in time, someone, somewhere has installed Outlook 2002 on your
machine. That could be from an internet download, or from a CD-ROM. You
will need to find out who did it, and where they installed it from, locate
that source, and insert it as is being asked.

hi mike

I ran into something similar when I had different components of office from
different versions on my machine. do you still have original office2000
disks? if so you may want to consider uninstalling all office components and
starting fresh. if not that far you might get away with removing outlook
2002 and replacing with older version.

What I dont understand is that .pub file looking for outlook, but i'm not an
expert-just a novice trying to get by

Your screenshot definitely shows Outlook 2002, which has me completely
stumped.

It would be cheaper to roll back to Outlook 2000.
I would move to Publisher 2003 if I were you. It is well worth the money

Publisher 2003 is currently Buy It Now on eBay for £95 here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3663469095&category=185
There is also an auction here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3664026863&category=185,
but this is likely to increase in price a lot before the auction ends.

Which would be the better option to buy Publisher 2002 from ebay and
install that or rollback Outlook to 2000 (uninstall 2002 and install 2000)?

Mike, if you know someone nearby that might have Outlook 2002 on CD (or
Office XP on CD), I don't see why you can borrow their CD to insert into
the CDrom when prompted for it so that it will finish the installation.
Then return the CD.

However, if you have any future issues, it's best to have the original
media, so rolling back to Outlook 2000 might be a good idea.
