Publisher cannot load the speller or dictionary

All of a sudden all of my Office programs have lost the ability to check
spelling and grammar. What the...? I've repaired, reinstalled, restarted, and
done all that the relevant docs in the knowledge base advise me to do. Can
anyone help?

I, too had this problem. I was on the telephone for several days wit
MS. Their final solution was to reformat and start over.
HOWEVER...after I reformatted I still had the same problem! After
LOT of digging I found that there was a VERY simple fix. CTFMON.EX
-must- be running. I had disabled it to get that bothersome "languag
bar" off my desktop. It turns out...it's needed. I've spent a wee
bashing my head and jumping through hoops. Hope it's easier for you
