Publisher Crashes

J

Jeremy

I am a service provider and pre-press manager at a
commercial web printer and use real desktop publishing
programs. I am however forced to use Publisher from time
to time and recently had to upgrade to 2002. It is
extremely frustrating and absolutly unacceptable that
publisher crashes when you have more than 250 fonts on
your system! I can't even save a file! Can't the half
baked reject programmers at microsoft get it together and
produce at least a mediocre product. I am sure with enough
time and effort and by purchasing other software I can
resolve the problem but it may be easier if I reject
publisher files and instruct people to buy Adobe software
instead.

You must be a half backed reject printer that knows little to nothing about
computers and probably even less about printing.

Why are you printers in the large majority such a poorly educated bunch of
losers. What is it that printing attracts all you failed rejects from
school with no decorum or manners.

Sure you can tell people to buy Adobe software, go for it!!!
How many do you think are going to buy it. We have to tell people everyday
what a bunch of failed difficult to get along with losers printers are, and
to look around to find a good one that knows what they are doing and is
helpful. No wonder printers are going out of business and using fast copy
shops and the like.

Now you half baked loser what version of Windows are you using?
Have you applied the Publisher 2002 updates?
Have you emptied your c:\Windows\Temp folder and deleted any sub-folders?
Have you defragged your computer in the last week?

The issue you describe of Publisher crashing with 250 fonts is of course
UNKNOWN!!!
However, I am sure we can fix your issue with the above information.

Looking at jeremy's post I understand your justification for your response.
however, I must take some offense. Not all printers are half baked losers-
we may all be half baked, but I don't consider most of them losers. as far
as finding one or two that know thier butt from a hole in the ground.....
there are a few of us out here. :)

BTW Jeremy.. Sounds to me like a memory issue (duh) and if your machine is
not quick & Clean and you're not using font management software then i too
have little sympathy. i use pub often in production and since i got my head
outta my butt it has served me adequately.

Yes, I do realise there are a few of you good amenable printers around the
world. They are just hard to find.

I have been doing work in Publisher for a *LONG* time going to offset print,
and have never had any drama.

Many printers that I have dealt with over the years once they saw how easily
Publisher could do many jobs have bought a copy and used it, especially for
B&W forms and flyers etc.

Ha, REAL desktop programs, are you talking about the ones
that run on OS10 and other Macs? I get to pay folks who
are contantly rebooting these machines and doing all
sorts of goofy things to get a file to output. Ha, try
to find a font manager for os10, Atm quit after os9. The
REAL desktop programs are just as full of problems as any
publisher program ever made.

They are just different, and not as many folks know how
to work then out.
