Publisher for large documents

Modify Publisher to handle large documents and to be compatible with Acrobat.
It is more intuitive than Word. Linking more than one page in Publisher is
a problem.

Publisher is compatible with Acrobat. Earlier versions of Publisher did not
work with the Acrobat add-in, as Adobe had not created one for Publisher
(absolutely NOTHING Microsoft could do about this, it was an Adobe issue).

Long documents are somewhat more of a problem. Without some more concrete
suggestions on what you'd exactly like to see done, your suggestion is not
terribly helpful.

"Linking more than one page in Publisher is a problem"
What do you mean by this? Pages in Publisher cannot be linked as such,
although two-page spreads do do this to a certain extent. Do you mean text
box linking?

A "master" page feature (but not the Master Page) would be useful, in my
opinion. Perhaps this is what you're talking about (the ability to add new
pages based on a pre-made "master" like the slide master in PowerPoint),
except with the text boxes on the page automatically linked to text boxes on
previous pages.

Ed, appreciate your reply and what I mean by linking is to be able to import
Word document pages into a Publisher document where the Word document is,
say, four pages and you want all four pages to be copied into the publisher
document, with the proviso that if I change something in the Word document,
that the change will also appear in the Publisher document. I can now get
one page included but no auto expansion of the text box onto following pages.
As far as Adobe Acrobat being 100% compatible with Publisher; I have had
problems with graphs missing its grid or the title of the Y axis being
blacked-out; with text box fill colors extending beyond the borders. Also,
would like to be able to include footnotes, and other features available in
Word.

Is that using the Adobe add-in or printing directly to the Adobe PDF printer
driver?
Also, would like to be able to include footnotes, and other features
available in Word.

Footnotes would be nice, I agree.

Ed, I have the Adobe problem when I use the Adobe print driver. As far as a
Master page for introducing Word documents into publisher; that is not the
point. The point is that the transfer should be transparent and intuitive.
You should be able to copy and paste with a link option and the overflow onto
additional pages should be automatic.

I don't entirely agree with this.

If I have my document set up the way I want it set up, and I copy and paste
in content from a Word document, I most certainly do NOT want Publisher to
randomly add new pages or text boxes for me, or alter my current layout in
any way.

AutoFlow is currently a good idea, but not perfectly implemented. If the
new pages/text boxes were added for AutoFlow purposes based on a "master"
page, then it would be more useful.
