I am having trouble printing a postcard in Publisher. I
am using mail merge to insert names on one side, and
address on side two. It currently prints page one, then
immediately page 2.I do not have time to change the
paper. So, I followed the directions online to make two
separate files..one for page one, and one for page two,
print one...reverse the paper, print two. The problem
then is the names do not print in the correct order. It
is not the order of the pages that prints incorrectly, it
is the names in the greeting line on the front of the
postcard do not match up with the name on the address
area on the backside of the postcard. They
are in reverse order. Hope you can help.

This is going to be a little complicated.
You will have to make two data lists. They will look like this:
List One List Two
A B
B A
C D
D C
E F
F E
G H
H G
I J
J I

In other words, you will have to reverse every other one in your list in order for
them to print correctly.

Thanks for your reply Mary, but this does not seem the
easiest way to do mail merge!! I am doing a merge of
several hundred people. What about a patch from
Microsoft? Is there any other solution?
Thanks

Margaret, I know of no other way with Publisher. Maybe someone will come along with a
better solution. You could use address labels on one side and use the merge for the
other. Are you using Publisher for your lists?
Using Excel or Access or some other data source will give you sorting options not
found in Publisher.

hmmm...this is perplexing.

If the second mail merge print pass is in exact reverse order of the first (i.e., z-a instead of a-z), then perhaps it could it be one of the following:
(a) an issue with how you are flipping and refeeding the paper for the second print pass (e.g., is the last printed in the first batch the first to be fed for the second batch?
(b) an issue with how you have the mail merge recipients sorted in the Mail Merge Recipients dialog box for the second file (You can sort alphabetically by clicking column headings in the Mail Merge recipients dialog box. Maybe changing how this list is sorted would do the trick...and eliminate the need for two separate lists)
