Publisher XP - Long Delay when inserting images

Hi there,
I`m havin a spot of bovver!.
I have two customers both using Publisher XP
and when they each go to insert an image into
their publication it takes an eternity waiting
for the cursor to come back due to thumbnails
being created for every picture in the folder.
How can I turn this feature off so only the image
filename shows?. I know a work-around is to have
less images in the folder in the first place...but
thats probably not going to keep them happy!.
Hope you can help as one of the customers is now
threatening to cut off my testicles.
Cheers,
Darren

This would be OS-dependent and nothing to do with Publisher. As you don't
say what OS either of your customers are running I can only speak of Windows
XP, as that's what I'm running on my system. At the top of the Open window
are four folder icons. Click the penultimate one from the left and select
'list'.

Hello again,

Thanks for your help thus far!.
The Systems are pretty respectable in that
they have a minimum of 256MB Ram and are both
Athlon CPU`s around the XP2100 mark.

The video card is admittedly pretty pants since
its the on-board sis chipset built into the Elite
K7 series motherboards. Colours are at least 16 Bit
but I have a feeling they may be 32 Bit. I have a
feeling the video driver is picked up during XP install
but can`t be certain as I didn`t install Windows XP on
them.

The OS is XP Pro with service pack 1 installed.
I may take a video card down to one of the customers so
I can rule this one out but any other thoughts are
gratefully appreciated!.

All the best,
Darren
