publisher xp not responding

I have repeatedly tried to open a Publisher 2000 file (a web site) on another
computer in Publisher XP. Publisher opens fine (listed in task manager as
running), then when I try to open the file, Publisher stops responding and is
then listed twice in the Task Manager as not responding. When I end either
task, I am then prompted to send an error report to Microsoft. I have tried
disabling Script Blocking in Norton as mentioned in another post, but it had
no effect. I scanned the file for viruses, it is clean. All programs
(office, Windows, Norton) are up to date. All I want to do is transfer the
file from one computer to another so I can work on it with an updated version
of Publisher. Thanks.

If Norton is on either machine the file may be corrupt all ready.
Can you still open the file in 2000?
Has the 2002 version been upgraded to Service Pack 3? (Needs to be. Period.)
Are you aware of the vast differences between 2000 webs and 2002 webs?

Thanks for your help. Norton is running on both machines. The original
(school computer) is running an enterprise version and the other (my
computer) is running Norton Internet Security 2005. The file can still be
opened in 2000 on the original machine. All programs (Windows XP, 2002, NIS,
NAV) are up to date. I know there are differences between the versions of
publisher, but the design is very simple - a few photos with text, nothing
fancy. The file is over 80,000KB - could it be a memory issue? The machine
where it was created has 256MB RAM and the machine I am trying to transfer it
to has 512MB RAM which I would think would be enough. Should I just upgrade
the computer with the 2000 version to 2002 or 2003? Thanks, again.

I'd suggest zipping the file and sending it to (e-mail address removed)
I'll see if I can open it and get it converted to 2002 for you or determine
if there is an issue with the file.

Personally - I think it's great that he's made a FAQ page - why bother
retyping the same answer over and again - when the same questions get posted
over and again by new people?

That FAQ page has been a big help to those of us new to web page creation -
and I've referred to it on many occassions. If he hadn't told me to look
for that page - I never would have known it was there - so I, for one, am
glad that he keeps letting the new posters on this newsgroup know about that
page.

Tammy

PS - Creating that page is probably one of the many reasons he's an MVP

David is a valuable resource. Tammy has hit the nail on the head when she
said that this is why he remains an MVP! :)
