publishing almost empty project takes 1047 seconds

Well.. that's what it says in the progress indicator in project, The
first email pops up in 3 seconds and the whole action takes about 20
seconds. This is with a template that;s almost empty, only the bare
minimum filled in.

Is this normal? Any way to speed up the process? Any way to tweak the
client's estimate to something more realistic?

Hi,

I had this happen at one site as wel, but it was a pilot installation so I
did not bother any in depth troubleshooting. I would be interested to know
if anyone else perhaps managed to troubleshoot this...

Thanks,
Nico

I've not had anything so severe, but had a publish time of 15-20 seconds
(very little in the db, and the queue actually took less than one second to
do all the publishing tasks). Today I did two things...
1. removed the cache
2. changed one of the project enterprise code formulas (it wasn't
displaying an indicator due to a typo)

Lo and behold, publishing back to 0 seconds!

Sounds good. I wonder, which one of these two made the most
difference.

Could you please elaborate a bit more? Which cache? And where was that
typo?

The Cache was the local cache. It deleted it all via Explorer.

The typo was on a graphical ICON. I was checking to display a green smiley
if "budget was <=0", but the icon was never displayed due to the string never
matching (as I was actually returning "buget was <=0"

Thanks for that Ben. Not exactly valid in my situation but worth
keeping in mind.
